JISD Police Chief Among 1st Responders A Year Ago

Post-landfall Harvey that hit the Texas coast with 130+ mph winds

When Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas coast in August of 2017, it devastated the area with 130 mph winds and torrential rains that ended up dumping catastrophic floods on southeast Texas.  On their own time, members of the JISD police department, including Chief Teresa Ramon, offered a helping hand to some 4,000 people at Port Aransas that lost their homes. A year later, in a ceremony honoring those who were the first to help and the victims themselves, a familiar face showed up there representing JISD...see if you can spot Chief.  CLICK HERE

Caring is all a part of Judson ISD...not just for our own, but those impacted by such disasters in other parts of our great state.

Miller's Point Dances Into New School Year

Some campuses have their own unique way of launching the new school year and Miller's Point does it in typical Jet fashion with a Back to School Dance.  The floor was packed, the music was moving, and the feet were fleeting.  Students had a great time enjoying the music provided by DJ Rodriguez and DJ Gallegos.  The campus that won the Convocation Spirit Stick got the year going in a groovy way!

This Rocket Is State Track Athlete Of The Year

If you follow sports at all, you probably have heard the name Tre'Bien Gilbert. He was recently selected as the Gatorade Texas Boys Track and Field Player of the Year.  Last year as a senior he was tearing up the Texas Track and Field scene especially in the hurdles. As a 5'11" senior he won the 110-meter hurdles at the Class 6A state meet that ranked as the nation's top performance among prep competitors in 2018.  He also won the 300-intermediate hurdles resulting in the 3rd best national time in his classification.  At the state meet, he anchored the 4X400 relay quartet that brought the Rockets to a second place team finish.

With all that said, the honor is not just given to fantastic athletes, but also those who exhibit high standards of academic achievement and high character standards on and off the track.  He is also a talented musician who uses his ability in his church ministry.  He signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Arkansas on a track and field scholarship.
