Rutledge Stadium Clear Bag Policy

As football season approaches, we wanted to remind everyone of the clear bag policy at Rutledge Stadium.  There will be a lot of events during the course of the year and we would like to avoid inconveniencing fans coming to the stadium with bags that are not allowed. Backpacks will not be allowed due to their size, even if they are clear.  Keep in mind this only for Rutledge Stadium.  We appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to make for a safer environment.

Yam Drive Shows JISD Giving Spirit

Each year the JISD Police Department orchestrates a district wide canned yam drive and this year it was a spectacular success.  More than 6,000 cans of yams were collected. This was started years ago as a way to help out the annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner that is hosted to feed more than 25,000 people who are elderly or those in need.  The contest involved JISD schools, and several of the district's departments.  This year the contest had a new winner! Check out all the generosity below...more pictures to come.

1st place: Converse ES with 2,409 canned yams

2nd place: Elolf ES with 1,642 canned yams

3rd place: Olympia ES with 1,249 canned yams

Congratulations and thank you everyone!

Chief Ramon Helps Out At Port A.

If you talk to JISD Police Chief Teresa Ramon for very long, you know that the Texas coast means a lot to her...especially Port Aransas.  It's a favorite R & R spot...a place to break away from all the police work she does.  When Harvey hit the coast, Chief went to the coast along with other members of the HAPCOA (Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association) and VFW Posts from Universal City and Lytle. Hauling and unloading supplies that families in the area were really needing was the mission at hand.  They delivered.

A big thanks goes out to Chief Ramon and everyone who helped out representing the open hearts that want to help those who have lost so much.

JISD Yam Drive Success 2016

The Judson ISD Police Department has again teamed up with the JISD Maintenance Department to make this year's Yam Drive happen.  It's amazing the generosity that comes out when this drive kicks off.  The collection of yams helps out the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner each year that helps out so many people.  A big thank you goes out to all the students and parents that contributed to this cause. Also appreciation to the JISD Maintenance Department that did a lot of the heavy lifting of collecting all those cans of yams.

When they were collected, members of the San Antonio Fire Department came out to pick them up for delivery.  Below are the Yam-pions of this year's Yam Drive!

1. Olympia ES (1,704)

2. Elolf ES (595)

3. Wagner High School ROTC (435)

4. Rolling Meadows ES (415)

5. JECA (225)

Board Recognitions 8-18-16

Board recognitions usually take a break during the summer time just because most everyone goes different directions during the break, but JISD Police Chief Teresa Ramon has been busy this summer. She was recently recognized by the Texas School Based Law Enforcement with a very prestigious honor.  Because of her impact here and beyond, at its recent state conference, the TxSBLE recently awarded her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. This is a pioneering award that recognizes law enforcement officers who have established and sustained efforts toward keeping schools safe and secure. The JISD Board of Trustees wanted to recognize Chief for this achievement.  Congratulations to her and the JISD Police Department.
