Thank Your Cafeteria Workers This Week

Fueling up students and staff for learning and teaching is an important part of starting and sustaining a successful day in the classroom. You know who they are. School Lunch Hero Day is May 3, 2019, and they deserve our appreciation. They are the individuals who make sure our kids and staff members get something nutritious for breakfast and a healthy lunch in the middle of the day. They do a lot of work to make sure the food is hot and served in a clean and appetizing way. It's something that these hardworking employees do every day and they do it well. Take a moment this week and thank those who make your day nutritious and delicious. For many kids, it's their favorite part of the day!

Breakfast Kiosks On The Way

During School Breakfast Week, March 4th – 8th, secondary campuses will be introducing the Breakfast Kiosk. The kiosks have been located in areas where students can see it with a “Coming Soon” sign and hopefully pique the interest of students who may want a simple Grab n Go breakfast.

The Breakfast kiosk will increase student’s access to a healthy breakfast. These kiosks are at Metzger Middle School and Wagner High School.  They're also a part of the Physical Activity plan that includes new P.E. equipment to engage students in a healthy lifestyle. Much like the Breakfast in the Classroom, Fuel Up To Play 60 funds have helped jump-start the Breakfast kiosks.

Taste Of Judson- Let Their Taste Buds Do The Talking

So what would you like for lunch? I mean really like for lunch.  That’s what the Judson ISD Child Nutrition Department was asking at its recent Taste of Judson. Different food vendors displayed their food samples and let several student groups test them out to see what they thought.  It gives students a chance to have some real say in the process of what ends up on the menu each day and even tweaking the items for better taste.  In the end, if students like what’s being served, they will eat it and be fueled up for the classroom.
