Kitty Hawk Bands Excel At UIL

Band is grand at Kitty Hawk where both the Honors and Symphonic Bands brought home Sweepstakes trophies for the third consecutive year! Both Advanced Bands continued their winning streak of earning the highest honor bestowed upon music programs by the University Interscholastic League, for earning Superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. The students prepared and performed three selections for the concert adjudicators who unanimously awarded both bands Superior/First Division ratings. Then, each band director was given less than 10 minutes to teach their students a brand new piece of music and perform it for the sight reading judges, who also unanimously awarded both bands Superior/First Division ratings, yet again. Way to go Kitty Hawk!

Congratulations on ending strong!

The Honors Just Keep Coming To Metzger's Band

At UIL competition

The Metzger Honors Band has been performing at a high level the last few weeks. On March 22, they traveled to the Lila Cockrell Theatre to compete in the Bluebonnet Classic Music Festival. They were awarded a superior rating, outstanding in class, and best in festival! Just a few days later they earned the coveted UIL "Sweepstakes" award after they received first division superior ratings from all six UIL judges. Lastly, they returned to Lila Cockrell Theatre on March 29 and competed in the Alamo Showcase of Music. The Honors Band received a superior rating and a runner up in class award. Up next, the Metzger Honors Band turns their attention to the TMEA State Honor Band Competition and hopes to improve on their 3rd place Area finish two years ago. The Metzger Band is under the direction of John Robertson and Bryant Aynes.
