Kitty Hawk SkillsUSA Students Flying High

The SkillsUSA students from Kitty Hawk have been busy with competition and community projects. They made a trip to Louisville, KY again for the National Conference to compete in parliamentary procedures competition...something they have done very well in over the past several years. They again came out as National Champions for the Opening and Closing Ceremony competition. A big congratulations to the team along with Mr. Acevedo and Ms. Herrera.

Along with that success, many of these students have been busy participating in a community service project that donated bicycles to the local Boys and Girls Club. This group is on a ROLL!

Judson Ag Teacher Selected For Leadership Trip

It's an awesome thing when your peers choose you to participate in a leadership event because of the quality of your work and attitude toward learning. That's what happened to Judson Agri-science teacher Sondra Lohse. She was chosen to join a group of great teachers in the same field to attend the 2019 LEAD Experience. Each of the 12 areas of Texas FFA got the chance to pick three teachers to represent them on a week-long all-expenses-paid trip that started in Austin and rolled for 1,200 miles, 14 locations, where they had the opportunity to listen to more than 45 presenters. These were experts in the field of business, leadership, education, advocacy, agriculture, policy, and core values.  It was also a great chance to network and make some great connections.

All of this was a great opportunity to mine for great information and insights that can be brought back and passed on to students and at the same time a chance to soak up an incredible amount of encouragement, camaraderie, and leadership skills that can help them personally and professionally.  We congratulate Ms. Lohse on her selection and hope the experience helped her grow into an even better teacher.

Employee Of The Month For June 2019

The Judson ISD Employee of the Month for the month of June is Catherine Tuttle who works in the Transportation Department. She was surprised recently during a department meeting by Dr. Ball and members of senior staff to recognized her commitment to her work. Ms. Tuttle has been described as a person who rarely is absent and always has the happiest attitude in helping others.

Ms. Tuttle does a lot for the JISD Transportation Department. She has worked with the district for more than 12 years. As the Judson Transportation Field Trip Coordinator for all campuses and specialty staff trips she has, to date, coordinated 2,177 Field Trips which required more than 3,000 vehicles. In addition, Ms. Tuttle assigns each driver their route, works with the Dispatch Office to assign buses, calculates the trip cost for each school, and many times drives a bus route herself. When transportation has a high number of field trips at night or weekends, she is always willing to be the on-call person to make sure everything runs right.

Congratulations to her for being an example to all of us!

Billboards For Top Graduates

If you have driven a lot around the northeast side of town the last couple of weeks you may have seen some electronic billboards that highlighted the top graduates of the class of 2019 for JISD.  The billboards included the top graduates for Judson, Wagner, Veterans, and Judson Early College Academy.  They ran the last couple weeks of June, but in case you missed them check them out below. They appeared at Loop 1604 near Hanover Cove, and the second week at Interstate 35 and Eisenhauer road.
